Description

Sarteano (SI)

Immersed in the green of the forests above the ancient village of Sarteano, in a suggestive position as only the brothers knew to choose for their mystical and spiritual retreats, this convent was made up of the chapel introduced by three arches in front of the churchyard, the Canonica , The Cloister and the Cells.
All the complex measures about 600 sqm and has a land of about 1.5 hectares served with aqueduct, light and a private source.
The Cappuccini Convent, or Romitorio di San Bartolomeo, which is said to have been founded by St. Francis himself, remains one of the most suggestive places surrounded by secular trees and the cross on the courtyard in front of the entrance loggia; Franciscan sources attest to this site the safe presence of the hermitic prayer harvest around 1212.
